The new Jewish cemetery in Cieszyn was opened in 1907 with a funeral home in the central part and an office and mortuary in the southern part. The cemetery was fenced with a wall with a gate decorated with the stars of David.
World War II, despite German decisions to transform the cemetery into a park, did not affect the cemetery in any way. After the war, the Jewish Congregation took care of the cemetery.
The greatest damage to the cemetery took place at the hands of the inhabitants in the post-war years. As was often the case, the cemetery was used as a free warehouse of building materials.
In 1986, the cemetery was entered into the register of monuments, and in the following years efforts were made to clean up.
Currently, on the area of 1.14 ha, about 100 tombstones made of sandstone or limestone have been preserved. Cleaning works take place regularly in the cemetery.
